The
communications market includes mobile phones, radio
transmission, broad band networks, analogue systems
and satellite communication devices. We undertake
work for civil and military contractors including
leading companies such as Nokia, Orange and Vodafone.
Military
communication systems include avionic equipment,
marine systems and land based hardware. Much of the
avionic equipment we manufacture is designed for
supersonic use across a wide range of temperature
and atmospheric environments, an area we have a particular
expertise in.
An
example of a commercial development is the development
of an integral 'set-top
box’ to provide state-of-the-art on-demand digital
movies and programming, a jukebox service, high speed
internet access and other services to hotel guests
via an IP-based xDSL network.
The
group has also developed a low-cost, low-power receiver
module for DAB digital radio to enable the
delivery
of high
quality
audio and high-rate data services, as well as the
development of smartphone and media player hardware
and software
for
the BT Livetime DAB enabled devices. This allowed users
to receive broadcast TV and DAB digital radio on their
mobile handsets using DAB technology. |
